Spinnaker members judge Parumoana Speech contests

Two Spinnaker members judged the Parumoana Speech Contests on Friday 27 November 2020 held at Discovery School. Fifteen students gave 3-4 minute speeches about a topic of their choice including social media, COVID, life in the 80’s, pet hates, moon cakes, flat earth beliefs, working hard to achieve goals, giant anteaters and 9 weird jobs! Some of the speeches were very funny and quite original. The amount of preparation and research the children undertook was very impressive, and the judges had a hard time choosing the winners. The speech contests are run by Plimmerton Rotary every year with schools in the Parumoana Cluster competing in Years 5-6 and Years 7-8. Congratulations to all the entrants – we have some budding Toastmasters in the making!
