Dave Cook is the new President of Spinnaker Toastmasters Club for the 2021-22 Toastmasters year which began on 1 July.
Dave has been a member of Spinnaker for several years and lives in Plimmerton. He is a GIS specialist and manages projects using data to produce maps.
Dave’s focus as president for the next 12 months is to concentrate on the club’s finances, the forward schedule and to build a strong membership.
Dave announced the first round of club speech contests will be held on 7 September with the Humorous and Table Topics and he was looking for a contest coach to help new members build their confidence in entering club speech contests.
Further contest dates will be announced in due course.
Area Director and club member Jacqui Blackwell announced that the Area J1 speech contests will be held on 27 November, and they will be physical contests, not Zoom. However the Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking will be held online. Jacqui also said that any club member can attend the club officer training and she looked forward to supporting both Spinnaker and the other four clubs in Area J1 during the coming 12 months.
