Spinnaker’s 5 May meeting chaired by Dale was full of laughter and fun. Following the annual business meeting, we had a team game called “2 truths and a lie”. In this game everyone had to write down 2 truthful statements about themselves, and 1 lie, and the audience had to guess who it was about, and which one was the lie. This generated lots of intrigue, guesswork, stumpings, and incorrect assumptions, until the owner revealed which one was the lie! This is a great teambuilding game which reveals a little something about each person not previously known.
President Dieter presented Kamilla with her new member certificate and new member pack.

Speech 1 was from Rory, an icebreaker titled “Stroke after Stroke”. In this speech Rory outlined his love of swimming from a young age, and when he started competitive swimming, becoming the runner-up in the national championships in 2007 for breaststroke. Evaluator Ash said Rory “blew us out of the water” with his descriptive body language, powerful pauses and excellent eye contact. He said Rory has a bright future on stage as a speaker.
Table Topics run by Megan was full of twists and turns. She asked everyone to write down their best or worst job, and then each speaker had to talk about whichever one Megan had chosen.
We had Rach with “packing nappies into boxes non stop for 12 hours”, Katina “working on a construction site with 150 blokes”, Kamilla being “a pizza waitress”, Angela justifying “why I love working in a butchery”, guest Jared “loves filing documents alphabetically”, and Jacqui did a contest table topics “What motivates you?” Dieter won the table topic of the night with his job of “being a promo girl for a water pump company at the field days”! Apparently Dieter wore a shirt skirt, a bikini top, shaved his legs, and had his sunnies on! Honestly, the mind boggles!
