Spinnaker Toastmaster Club meetings are now available online.
You can join from anywhere in New Zealand (or the world) to attend our meetings via Zoom.
That means Spinnaker is now a hybrid club – meeting both in person and online, and Toastmasters International says that the majority of clubs (around 80%) now meet in either an online or hybrid format.
See Toastmasters International April 2023 Newsletter article “Online Skills are here to stay”, and November 2022 “Presenting in Today’s Virtual World“.
This has brought a whole lot of new challenges for the club to manage and master, including setting up the Zoom meetings, having a dedicated camera, with speakers needing to be aware of their online counterparts up on the big TV screen at the front of the speaking area, and staying within camera view.
If you are doing an “online speech” that also brings new challenges such as lighting, microphone, background view, and how to use your voice and visual aids appropriately for both an online and physical audience.
Spinnaker gives members an ideal opportunity to practice and improve their online presentation skills each fortnight. It also gives those why may be away out of town, or unable to attend because of health concerns, a chance to still join the meeting from afar.
If you are interested in finding out how Spinnaker operates hybrid meetings, contact us on email spinnaker@toastmasters.org.nz. We’d love to welcome you to our meetings.
