Some members were online tonight from places faraway, and some were present in the hall including members of the Porirua Central Club and our Division Director.
Albertus chaired the meeting and opened with his Grammarian’s theme of “Royal”. The word of the day was “Crown” and Albertus gave examples of how the word could be used in our speeches.
Table Topics Master Kathy used the theme of speaking in honour of someone or congratulating them.
Speaker 1 was Katina, introduced by Ron. Katina’s project was to “Manage Difficult Audiences” with interjections and interruptions from the audience required. “Meat is Murder” was the topic from Katina which she managed to propose her thoughts clearly. Then she opened the floor for questions and answers and things took a totally different angle.
Division Director Pauline presented Kathy with her 25 year membership plaque from Toastmasters International.
Speaker 2 was Darrell introduced by Luke, “Platinum Pals” a persuasive speech where Darrell introduced us to 4 of his lifelong pals and their exploits.
Speaker 3 was Kathy who gave an educational called “Will you come again?” on meeting etiquette, and membership retention. She wanted us to imagine we were a guest and how would we feel about the running of it and would we come back. Kathy gave several examples of meeting behaviour that should be adopted, how the Toastmasters Promise relates to meetings, and on being prepared and keeping to time at meetings.
