Wisdom of Winnie the Pooh

An action packed meeting chaired by Megan on 3 March saw 7 guests and nearly a full club member turnout!

Megan had chosen “Wisdom of Winnie the Pooh” as her theme for the meeting, with Ash choosing “coachable” as his word of the day. Angela used the Winnie the Pooh theme in her table topics session where our guests spoke on various topics.

Speech 1 by Priyanka was a “Parents Survival Guide”, and she certainly proved she was a survivor, outlining the three main things as a new parent you have to contend with – lack of sleep, lots of milk, and stinky nappies! Evaluator Jinny used this as a practice run for the Evaluation Contest coming up, and said she loved the speech, especially Priyanka’s body language and vocal variety.

Speaker 2 was Junior who was completing his Level 1 Pathway with an inspiring speech. Evaluator Lin said it was a motivational and self-revelation speech with emotional connection to everyone.

The third Speaker was Rach with her Icebreaker called “Where am I from?”. Evaluator Dale thought it was an engaging humorous speech using plain homely language and was very relatable.

Speaker 4 was Katina and her take on being a mentor and the difference to being a coach, also relating to the word of the day “coachable”. Evaluator Dieter thought it was engaging and humorous and would liked to have heard more about the context in the beginning to set the scene.

Memory master Ron used his time to ask 10 questions for the audience to answer to win a chocolate. Grammarian Ash reported back on the use of the word of the day and other language difficulties speakers had.

Timekeeper Quentin reported in on how everyone’s timing went, with only one “disqualification” if it were a contest evaluation!

General Evaluator Jacqui praised the meeting chair Megan for a distracting theme, and complimented all speakers and evaluators for a job well done.
