Speechcraft 2025 #3 – Organise your speech

Another fabulous speechcraft session on Tuesday 3 June with our Speechcrafters delivering their “organise your speech” speech!

First up was Zi (actually doing his Icebreaker), who talked about “Reading Books” and how he has rediscovered his childhood passion of reading, and what he has learnt.

Next Quentin talked about how to spend “a short holiday in Auckland CBD”, where he gave us a run-down on where to shop and eat. He was very informative and his knowledge of Auckland’s Queen Street, High Street and Vulcan Lane were obvious.

Third, Darril, with “A day in the life of a Bee”, a beautiful speech detailing the short life of a tiny bee named Bella. It was humorous, interesting and creative, with a logical structure and personalisation. Darril was awarded the Speech of the Night award by General Evaluator Dale.

Finally Jinny’s speech “Mastering the art of answering the question – so can you tell me about yourself?” at a job interview, had a great setup and a fabulous ending!

Pathways speaker Lin delivered a speech “USA Roadtrip – a dramatic start” using body language – it was the start of a holiday in a campervan with her Dad, and how they got stuck in the desert and then rescued (at great cost!).

Table Topics by (absent) Jacqui was all about Samoan Language Week – there was something for everyone, no-one was stumped by the topics! Some of the responses were very funny, had good pace, were easy to follow, were clear and concise and consisted of personal stories. Best Table Topic was by our guest Junior.
