What an epic first session for Speechcraft 2025 on Tuesday night 6 May. Our five speechcrafters: Quentin, Ash, Darril, Zi, and Jinny heard two excellent educationals and then participated in table topics on the Mother’s Day theme.
Dieter’s educational on how to tackle table topics said it was the most “fun” part of Toastmasters. He outlined how table topics works, how the timing works, and how to structure your response to a table topic. Then he ran a table topics session for the speechcrafters where they tried their hand at topics such as “a perfect Mother’s Day”, a “memorable Mother’s Day”, “how to spend quality time with your mother”, “a Mother’s Day tradition”, and a “dream adventure with your mother”.
Jacqui’s educational on selecting an Icebreaker speech topic made use of powerpoint to outline the first speech the participants will make next meeting. The main point was that an Icebreaker speech is nothing to do with ice!
Dale awarded the Best Contribution of the Night award to Dieter for his informative educational and excellent table topics following the meeting’s theme.

Our two guests Jordan and Junior were also invited to give a comment about how they found the meeting.
The next meeting on 20 May will be session #2 where the speechcrafters will give their first official formal speech – this promises to be creative, informative and memorable.
