Our Chair, Jocelyn gave us the theme of Anzac Day. Throughout the meeting she walked us through a fascinating PowerPoint about a family and the challenges that he endured. Very interesting and captured us all by the story.
Vicky ran her first Table Topics session and this was great, our speakers all really enjoyed the topics and it was good to have new members also entering into the spirit and having fun.
We had 3 speeches, The First by Katina was entitled “ a team by default” and was about her family, the strength of family and the challenges that this too can bring. Angela evaluated it and provided some great suggestions as to how to improve on a very well delivered speech.
Our second speech was delivered by Lin and was a Wedding Speech. The speech was funny, entertaining and showcased the growth that Lin is showing as a newer speaker to the club. Dieter’s evaluation also gave a few pointers as to how to enhance her vocal variety to augment the impact.
Our third speech was by Jacqui and was about ‘The Great War’, very in keeping with the theme of the evening. A very good speech packed with some very interesting facts. Jacqui gave is some very real examples of how many people went to war and related these numbers to our population to put it all into perspective. We also had a Q&A session at the end which really highlighted the vast knowledge that Jacqui possesses on the subject. Megan’s evaluation was also very positive and constructive just highlighting ways to enhance the speech in the future.
A very well run meeting, great fun, with everyone having the opportunity to speak, to learn and build their confidence in front of a very safe and encouraging audience.
Our meeting really did highlight the values of Toastmasters. A Great meeting .. as they say, a good time was had by all.
