Love Local Porirua 2024

Spinnaker Toastmasters Club had a booth at the Love Local Porirua 2024 Expo on Saturday 8 June 2024 at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua City.

There were plenty of people around, with over 130 booths displaying goods and food for sale, community activities and groups, games, and local entertainment. You could buy everything from scented candles to candy floss, silk pj’s and leather shoes, and jewellery, and talk to local groups such as Fire and Emergency NZ, Coastguard, Police and Emergency Management.

Our booth was right in the middle of the expo and we managed to nab quite a few enquiries for following up over the next few weeks.

Various members of the club manned the booth between 10 am and 4 pm with visits from other Toastmasters as well as the public.

While we don’t actually sign anyone up to Toastmasters at a public event like this, it’s always good to get the Toastmasters name out there, and seed an interest with people who have been thinking of coming along, or who knew about Toastmasters but felt reluctant to make the first move.

We had brochures, fridge magnets, pens, business cards on display to attract visitors and hand out, along with a Toastmasters banner and display board.
