Visiting Ballarat Toastmasters

Recently while on a holiday around Victoria in April 2024, Dale Hartle visited Ballarat Toastmasters Club and gave a speech.

Before leaving home, Dale had contacted Ballarat Toastmasters to request a visit and give a speech, and they responded they would be delighted to have an international visitor.

The meeting was very small with 3 members and 1 online member in attendance, plus two guests. However it was warm and friendly and enthusiastic.

Dale’s speech was called “Shipwreck”, the story of how her great-great aunt and uncle Jane and John Marriott were shipwrecked off the coast of Port Melbourne in 1887, and now the beach bears the name “Cheviot Beach” after the ship.

Dale also visited Castlemaine Cemetery where Jane and John are buried, and the beach where the shipwreck occurred.

If you are travelling and think you’d like to attend a Toastmasters meeting in another location, have a look at the Club Finder on the Toastmasters International website for more information, and send a request to visit.
