Hybrid meetings at Spinnaker

What does hybrid mean? Why does Spinnaker Toastmasters Club run hybrid meetings?

A hybrid toastmasters club means that the club meets both in person and online. Members who live remotely, have health issues or injuries, or are travelling, can still join online and attend the meeting. This keeps people involved and participating. Online attendees can deliver speeches, give evaluations, and participate in table topics. Sometimes the District Team join us online. Members can also use Zoom to attend other club meetings and hybrid contests.

At Spinnaker we use Zoom, so if any member or guest wishes to attend online, you need to contact us to be advised of the Zoom link.

You need to make sure you have a good internet connection, and Zoom installed and updated on your device. You should join the meeting using the link provided about 15 minutes before the meeting start time.

At our meeting venue, a large wide screen television is used to display the Zoom attendees, and we have a high-tech camera that displays a view of the audience, and the speaker. We can also share Powerpoint presentations and images on the big screen.

Spinnaker welcomes anyone who wishes to attend our meetings online. Please contact us to give us your details and to arrange to receive the link.
