“Candid” was the word of the day for our 19 September meeting chaired by Megan who General Evaluator Angela said was “da bomb”!
Table Topics run by Gary gave speakers a topic: Megan – the most daring thing she has ever done- Answer – go and live in Amsterdam; Dave – who do you admire most and why- Answer – great-great-grandparents who emigrated from Scotland; Susie – a place you would like to visit- Answer – return to Chile and belated honeymoon in Hawaii; Janelle – dream job- Answer -photographer and life coach; Janine – where would you love to live- Answer – in Whitby where she is now; Jackie – person most like to have dinner with- Answer – Matilda MacIlroy.
Speech 1 by Darrell, from Engaging Humour titled “Being funny is no laughing matter” was evaluated by Kathy who said Darrell achieved his objectives, and as this was a masterful speech which flowed well and had everyone laughing at the right times.
Speaker 2 was Dieter with a story about his scouting days back in Johannesburg. Evaluator Jackie said the speech had humour and tension, danger and excitement.
Speaker 3 was Gary with a challenge to us all to dream big and plan. Evaluator Dale said Gary has graduated from dark and stormy night speeches to deep and meaningful speeches and she liked it!
